Sustainability
ILJIN Electric actively adopts Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certifications to quantitatively analyze and improve environmental impacts throughout the entire product life cycle. Through these initiatives, the company strives to lead the development of eco-friendly products and strengthen its sustainable manufacturing competitiveness.
Completion of LCA for Four Extra-High Voltage Cable Products
ILJIN Electric has completed LCA evaluations for four types of extra-high voltage cables and is implementing strategies to reduce environmental impacts. Additional LCAs for four more cable products are scheduled for completion in the second half of 2025.
Ongoing LCA for Two Transformer Products
LCA evaluations are currently being conducted to assess the environmental impact of transformer products. The findings will be reflected in future eco-friendly product development initiatives.
Acquisition of Domestic EPD Certification for Two AL-ROD Products
Two AL-ROD products have obtained Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification, ensuring transparent disclosure of environmental information and independent verification of environmental impacts.
ILJIN Electric is committed to responsible management practices aimed at minimizing environmental impacts across all business areas and realizing a sustainable future. We systematically manage key environmental factors — including greenhouse gases, waste, water, and air emissions — and have established company-wide goals through the implementation of an ISO 14001-based Environmental Management System. In addition, we conduct quarterly compliance assessments and annual environmental impact evaluations to proactively prevent potential environmental risks.
We systematically monitor greenhouse gas emissions and are pursuing a target to reduce emissions by approximately 54.6% by 2033 (compared to 2023 levels) and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. To reach these goals, ILJIN Electric is promoting diverse reduction activities, including energy efficiency improvements, process optimization, and the expansion of renewable energy use.
All waste generated at our business sites is managed throughout the entire process — from generation and storage to treatment — in accordance with internal procedures. We enhance recycling rates through strict waste segregation, minimize landfilling and incineration, and recycle remaining materials as raw resources to further reduce environmental impacts.
Water used in production processes is managed with a focus on conservation and efficiency, while wastewater is classified and treated according to pollutant sources to prevent water contamination. Based on annual data monitoring, ILJIN Electric continuously improves both water consumption and discharge management to ensure sustainable resource use.
Emissions of air pollutants such as dust, SOx, and NOx are regularly measured and controlled at each business site. We operate air pollution prevention facilities and strictly comply with all relevant regulations to minimize emissions. In particular, the Hongseong Plant has installed low-NOx burners in its boilers to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, contributing to cleaner air and improved environmental quality.
As a result of our dedicated efforts to develop a wide range of eco-friendly products in line with the era of carbon neutrality, ILJIN Electric has obtained Green Technology Certification from the Ministry of Environment of Korea.
